But what is interesting is that state change of this known issue after 345 days! Everytime I have checked unto February of this year, it was still under investigation and no solution known. I found a related link just for your reference. Support Assistant and HP SoftPaq download manager.

And as I don't have MS SCCM installed, HP image assistant and Intel driver and support assistant were really helpful, better than HP Inc. That was around end of November and then December of last year. I can only speculate that there was some race condition / dependency that some of these updates were only offered after some others have been installed.

It seemed to me that an update of a combination of drivers and firmware including system firmware got me beyond that hold and updates to Windows 10 20H2 (first to 1909 and less than two weeks later up to 20H2). Have you updated all your drivers and system firmware (called BIOS by some although my systems have an UEFI system firmware instead of a legacy BIOS)? I am writing here maybe someone knows of a better fix? Its been over a year since this has started and now 1903 is almost out of life and needs to get updated asap.

I have one of them too, and another model with the same component and effect. And as the method list suggests, you don’t have to. Both methods work in Windows 10, 8 and 7. So you should always make sure to have the latest audio drivers on your computer.

In Windows Vista, the Windows Logo program requirements state that any machine shipped with Vista must include a UAA-compliant audio device that works without additional drivers.Spicehead-nzvuj wrote:I have a large number of Windows 10 HP G4 and G5 laptops which are not getting updated with the feature upgrade to 20H2. If the audio drivers is outdated, faulty or missing, you might experience no sound, sound cutting out, bugging or crackling issues. Windows XP Service Pack 3 also includes the updated driver, as well as Windows XP Professional 圆4 Edition with Service Pack 1 and 2. However, almost all manufacturer supplied drivers contain the UAA class driver. In 2004, Microsoft provided the first version of UAA as an update to Windows 2000 Service Pack 4, Windows XP Service Pack 1 and Windows Server 2003, but is only available by contacting Microsoft support directly. Windows will continue to fully support audio drivers that use the PortCls and AVStream drivers. UAA is intended to be a complete replacement for developing WDM Audio Drivers however, in some cases it may be necessary for an otherwise UAA-compliant audio device to expose capabilities that cannot be done through UAA.

It also provides a reasonable assurance that an audio device will still be able to work many years down the road, without requiring vendor-supplied drivers for a newer version of Windows.Īnother goal of UAA is to provide better support for multi-channel audio in Windows so that, for example, multi-channel WMA Pro audio streams can be played without special driver support. UAA seeks to resolve problems by putting forth a standardized interface which audio devices can follow, ensuring that the device's capabilities will be recognized and used effectively by Windows, without the need for additional drivers or custom control panels. These concerns prompted Microsoft to disable the audio stack entirely by default in Windows Server 2003.

Poorly written audio drivers have been a common source of system instability in Windows, especially with games that make use of extended audio card capabilities. This, in turn, requires kernel-mode drivers so that the user's actions can be communicated to the hardware itself. I prefer the High Definition Audio Device drivers provided by Microsoft than the Conexant HD Audio drivers. Due to the lack of a common system by which audio devices could describe their capabilities to the operating system, not to mention a lack of ability to control those capabilities, audio device manufacturers (such as Creative Labs, Realtek, Turtle Beach and others) have had to provide a series of control panels and custom interfaces to let a user control the device. The goal of the Universal Audio Architecture is to solve a very common problem in older Microsoft Windows products, that of inconsistent support for audio.
